The article discusses the linguistic foundations and sociolinguistic motivations of the spelling codification of the adjective ‘крымско татарский’. Linguistically, the contradiction between the codified norm and the widespread spelling is analyzed from the point of view of the historical dynamics of the spelling of the word and its place in the system of units similar in structure and linguistic semantics. The fact is established that this complex adjective belongs to the asystemic area of writing, controlled not by rules, but by a dictionary, not by algorithmic patterns that generate a certain spelling, but by synchronous and diachronic analogies, tradition of use, individual preferences, and it is in this case that the role of the subjective factor of writing – the policy of codifier linguists is recognized. Noting the coexistence of competing spellings of a given word, the author draws attention to the version of the interpretation of the spelling rules of complex adjectives, which seems to be more adequate in the real and prospective time dimension. The sociolinguistic aspect of this issue affects the existence of the word in the nationwide usus: in the middle of the XX century the tradition of its use was interrupted for decades and did not take shape by the time of dictionary codification. It is also important that the social base of Russian writing in the 90s of the last century turned out to be divided, a significant part of the writers remained outside Russia, in which the use of normative dictionaries of the Russian language is legislatively enshrined. The paper analyzes the reflection of native speakers trying to directly link the written form of a word and linguistic semantics, and also examines the relationship between the norms of dictionaries and state regulations.
