Abstract
The article examines the modern linguistic situation in Switzerland, whose integral component is the Romansh language, which is a peaceful and civilized coexistence of different languages and cultures. The sources of its formation are considered and a brief description of the current state of the Romansh language is given. The article analyzes the special role of the Romansh League (Lia Rumantscha) in preserving and strengthening the position of the Romansh language in all spheres of life of the Romansh society — a public organization designed to unite the efforts of disparate cantonal unions and create conditions for joint actions in the face of the real threat of the complete disappearance of the Romansh language. difficulties encountered by the Romansh League in attempts to find optimal ways to solve both the intra-linguistic situation of coexistence of the five Romansh variants and the artificially created supra-regional norm of the Rumantsch Grischun, and the problems of creating externally favorable conditions for ensuring the full functioning and development of the Romansh language, focusing on humanitarian and educational tasks outside the political and economic engagement, which becomes especially relevant against the background of linguistic and interethnic conflicts arising with varying degrees of intensity on the territory of “new Romania”.
