Abstract

The article, using the example of the modern Republic of Bashkortostan (further – RB), highlights certain issues related to the problem of «man-ethnos-religion-language». The purpose of the undertaken study is to objectively present and describe the existing intra-national and inter-confessional relations in a multilingual and multi-confessional republic. The subject of the study is the data of sociopsycholinguistic experiments conducted by the authors, the results of sociological surveys. The object of scientific study was the characteristic of the correlation of linguistic and religious identities of a bilingual living in the multi-ethnic and multi-confessional conditions of the Republic of Bashkortostan. We used such general scientific and sociolinguistic methods as observation, comparison, analysis of the results of surveys (all-Russian and republican), descriptions, as well as questioning of representatives of a particular ethnic group or religion. The authors’ contribution to the development of the problem lies both in the conduct and description of a multi-stage experiment, and in the fact that when analyzing the data obtained, religiosity was studied in terms of the «religious consciousness» parameter, and, if necessary, certain issues related to religious behavior were also covered. The novelty of the study lies in the appeal to the peculiarities of the manifestation of the linguistic and ethno-religious identity of the inhabitants of the Republic of Bashkortostan in a synchronous context. Empirical data are given, a conclusion is made about the ambiguity of the analyzed ideas.
